Ron Taffel Talk Summarized
Please Take 3-Question Survey
On Parenting Gifted Children
Dr. Ron Taffel, a noted child psychologist and author of many books on child-rearing, gave a talk at Hunter Elementary School on April 17, 2012 and a number of NEST+m parents got the chance to attend.  For those of us who could not attend, Dr. Taffel graciously shared notes from his talk so that all of us can hear his message.  At the talk, Dr. Taffel encouraged the G&T schools to share knowledge on issues related to children and education, and in that spirit, he has given us a link to a short 3-question survey on parenting ideas/strategies as a way to start the dialogue.  Responses are anonymous, and the parents at Hunter will collate the responses and give us a report.

High Five Tickets to the Arts
Through High 5, students enrolled in grades 6-12 can buy $5 tickets to the best of New York City dance, music, theater and visual arts events all year round. In order to purchase tickets, all you need is an interest in the arts, a school ID and $5. Each eligible High 5 student is allowed one adult or child admission at the same $5 discount price. However, there can never be more adults than eligible students in a group. If you would like to go to an arts event as a group, use the Take 5 Program to buy 5 tickets at $5 each and get a sixth ticket free to use for an eligible 6th-12th grade student or adult.
Many museums offer two for $5 admission, as well. See the Event Calendar for updated listings.

The Spring Fair is coming on Saturday, June 9th and we need YOUR help! Please email event chair Lauren McGrail if you are willing to volunteer your time, expertise or simply ideas on how to make this the best Spring Fair ever. We are especially interested in contacts with MS and US bands, local bands, children's music, face painting, food carts, or food opportunities, or anything else that you think would make a great community event.
