After School
K-5th Grade Afterschool care is provided onsite by After3, a parent-organized non profit organization. See their website for more information: http://www.after3nyc.org/ 6-8th Grade Afterschool activities for grades 6-8 are held by the onsite SONYC@NEST+m program. Please contact Osh Noam, SONYC Program Director Grand St. Settlement @NEST+m at onoam@grandsettlement.org or 212.677.5190 ext. 2571. His office is located by the Nurse's Office on the Lower School floor. Parents please note, the programs below are not endorsed or evaluated by the NEST+m PTA. We are simply providing information about other offsite afterschool programs as a service to our parent community. Sixth Street Youth Program Website: http://www.sixthstreetcenter.org/sixth-street-youth-program.html Director of Community Programs: Jen Chantrtanapichate Grades: 4th - 8th Our after school program, Sixth Street Youth Program will expand to serve students in grades 4 through 8, and will offer daily homework support as well as on site tutoring. Similar to the summer program, our after school will be very low-cost, with a sliding-scale or free tuition for families that qualify. All families are encouraged to sign-up regardless of ability to pay. Each day after homework and tutoring, we will be offering a daily enrichment workshop in art, creative writing, expressive movement or urban gardening. AnnouncementsWhole Child Whole Child is a parent group that meets monthly to address social, emotional and academic concerns, including special education needs. Twice exceptional (2e) children are both gifted academically and also have learning challenges. Certain learning challenges benefit from special education services, which kids are entitled to receive and are provided by the DOE/NEST+m. Whole Child meets on the third Thursday of the month in the cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. Please join WholeChild@googlegroups.com to keep up-to-date with meetings and events.
